Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our utmost priority. Tangy is built to gather no personal identification, retain no histories, and keep connections direct and anonymous.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Tangy is an anonymous chat room. We do **not** collect, store, or solicit:

  • Your name, email address, physical address, or phone number.
  • Social media handles or account credentials (zero signup is required).
  • Logs of your text chat messages. Message contents are routed in memory and deleted instantly when a session terminates.
  • Audio or video recordings. Video streams are processed purely in real-time.

2. Peer-to-Peer Communication & IP Addresses

Tangy utilizes WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) to enable video and voice chat. WebRTC creates a direct, peer-to-peer connection between your browser and your chat partner's browser.

Important Security Disclosure: Because WebRTC connections are direct, your public IP address may be visible to your chat partner's browser software during a call.

To protect your network safety, Tangy employs a network of secure TURN/STUN relay servers. These servers help establish connections and hide your IP address where standard carrier routing permits. If you require absolute anonymity, we recommend using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) while using public chat rooms.

3. Temporary Server Processing

To connect you with others, our signaling server processes temporary data in memory:

  • WebSocket Session IDs: Temporary identifiers to handle queue routing and pairing. Deleted when you disconnect.
  • Interest Tags: Hobbies or words you enter are used solely to match you and are discarded immediately.
  • IP Address checking: Processed on connection to prevent network abuse (spam/bot flooding) and handle localized geocoding. This data is not linked to personal identity.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

Tangy does not use third-party advertiser tracking cookies. We utilize native browser Session Storage and Local Storage for minor functional parameters:

  • Storing a flag indicating that you completed the 18+ age verification (`rc_age_ok`), so you do not have to verify on every refresh.
  • Storing user preferences, such as selected device input IDs or Auto-Next toggles.

5. Third-Party Links & Advertising

Our static landing pages may contain links to external sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party domains. Tangy itself has no active advertising networks tracking your movements within the application.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update our privacy rules periodically to align with technology improvements or compliance mandates. The date of latest review will always be visible at the top of this document.
